When the dust settles and you are doing the rebuild, install the cover with the rain hole at the bottom. When you do that, you should notice that the moulding on the outer face resembles the Nippy Norman logo on their website. Maybe not such a stupid design after all?Stupid vanity nippy Norman cover- if the stupid thing was designed properly the drain hole would he on the bottom
Miaow! Guess you work there. The NN was facing the correct way. The drain hole is on the right. If it was well designed I wouldn’t have a corroded mess. Anyway it is what it is, I’ll get it fixed and move on.

Sitting here thinking about this. Irrespective of where the drain hole is, it’s not where the water was getting in. The gator is ripped. The water must have been getting in there and then flung into the bearing and the thing I’m looking at. But if the hole is where I say it is. That water had nowhere to go…

Wherever you find the hole, put the bung in with the hole at the bottom
And no, I don't work there. I think of most of their offerings as bling, to be honest. That said, I do have a cover over that pivot. It is held on by a hidden grub screw, which most mechanics missed and just levered it off

Yeah this unit screws in and the bolt is part of the cover. Just landed in London for the weekend. Dying to get back and check where the drain hole is

I’m basically eight years old again. I cannot wait 
Obsessing in my head about this rusted part. I park the bike on its side stand. Any water getting in there can’t drain out because it’s angled back towards to bearings.
I‘Ve a decent slide hammer arriving Monday so fingers and toes crossed. I’ll get the front wheel off Monday as well and get new rubber fitted. If all goes well I’ll get the rubber boot changed up there too and the whole thing buttoned up. That just leaves putting the back end on and doing the valves. The bike is running well so I’m hoping the valves are within tolerance and I don’t need to touch them. I’ll go to a local guy for a throttle body balance later in the week.
I’ve a yellow gs 911 arriving today. I’m looking forward to seeing how that works out!
Found a lot of paint to the left of my right boot has just come away from the frame. White dusty corrosion. Guess I’ll paint that will the hammerite but it’s gonna be a mare sanding it down. I’m investigation wire wheels that I could put on an extension and use my drill. Maybe I could use my Dremmel. Time will tell. Anyway, have a lovely weekend, it’s a beautiful day here in Kingston.

And the exciting question? Is my abs fixed now I’ve repaired the broken rear abs sensor wire? It’s like waiting to see what’s Santa has brought lol
To remove a seized in swingarm
Pivot pin.
First remove the three small bolts . Get a small solid blunt end chisel. Put the edge of chisel into one of the holes where the bolts were.
Hit chisel with a heavy bolster hammer, which will gradually turning the pivot pin. Thus loosening said pin, enabling it to be removed.
I’ve never needed to use a slide hammer .,
And another thing. The securing clip on the front brake caliper pin is the wrong way around. It should be facing outwards.

While I wait for my nephew to perfect his hair, I was reading up on the left pivot pin. I was hoping at this point I’d be sitting in a camra pub in Kingston But still at home. Anyway, I don’t have the special tools for the left bolt. I read it’s ok to use medium strength loctite and to torque the bolt to 7nm and leave over night before torquing the lock nut down to 160? Use some tippex to check nothings moved? I read it somewhere so it must be true

Nice to rip the bandaid off. Bit of a mess in here. I'll replace the bearings. they are very notchy, full of grit and don't turn smoothly.
Guess I just clean everything up? The drive shaft is quite rusty. I'll most likely treat it with some rustings rust converter. and give it a light smear of that marine grease. Should keep it protected? I've got the proper spline lube and I'll pack the bearings with the same grease and I'm planning on putting a smear around the two ends of both gators. this sound correct?
very relieved to get that out in the open. Long past its best by date....

Check that it is not Lithium Grease as it attacks rubber. Only use Rubber grease on gaiter's or better still Staburags NBU30

Thanks Mistacst. Did a bit of research and I don’t know how good the info is but this stuff is mineral based as is Strasbourg stuff so in theory it should be fine? Either way I’ve changed the front gaitor and put a healthy dollop of it in there. It’s calcium supinate grease.
Collecting bearings on Wednesday so maybe I can track some of the proper stuff down. Maybe the car dealership I’m buying the bearings off will have some. They can apparently order anything I want as long as I have the part number. They cannot search. They are five mins away instead of 50 mins away. Either way I’m not taking apart the telelever front bearing again
New tyres tomorrow. Once the bike is back on two wheels I’ll check the valves, change the spark plugs etc and hopefully fit my new bars! Some pics. Took disks off for a good clean. Considering changing the bolts. Notice two of the bobbins seem to have been welded into the disk? That’s really odd…. Thanks for reading oh and I replaced the headlight Spring.
