Programmed a route using mapsource across to Box Hill this morning, then uploaded to my SPIII. Selected lots of VIA points to take me down lots of unmarked roads.

I then proceeded to miss a turning. It auto recaculated the route and ignored all the VIA points and just plotted a route direct to Box Hill. Not really what I wanted.

Is there any way of stopping this other than disabling auto recaculate??

Your saved route is never lost unless you delete it. You can stop the route completely ie route/stop, then restart your stored route, route/list/”your saved route”
It’s a fiddle, but allows you to ride back and rejoin your planned route.

If you power the GPS down while routing is in progress (café stop) when you restart the GPS the route is automatically restarted as well, very handy!

You had a route mapped out and missed a turn. If you ask, or let, the SPIII recalulate it, it will do so to your preferences, ie quickest, avoid/don't avoid highways etc. It won't go via your via points or the route. It recalculates the a new way.

I have auto recalculate set to prompt. If I go wrong, it tells me I'm off route and asks if I want it to recalculate. If you ignore the prompt, it doesn't recalculate - saves you panicking and trying to press "no" on the move.

The route will still be on the screen in pink, so you can see where you should be, do a little detour to get you back onto it and the routing will take over when you get to the next turn.

Make sense?

Off course, in hindsight, not missing the turn would have been a bonus :D

I do find if I'm in town and there's a a few quick left/right/lefts, you can beat the GPS, so I find it pays to have a feeling what's coming next by having the screen zoomed in.

Sounds like a bit of a 'work around', shame it won't just keep your via points. I've thought about setting up lots of mini-routes, but then you've got to keep loading new routes on the fly, which I don't want to do.

Like the 'Top Tip' about not going wrong in the first place, must give it a try:D

I assume if you intercept the route, it will pick you up from that point??? I always thought that you'd have to start from the beginning again, which is not very good if you're 100miles into the route.
