connect and ride motoradd app

Forgive my ignorance.. As tech is not a strong point of mine "but I do try" lol.. hopefully someone can answer this quick question for me.. Now don't laugh! but if your mobile is connected to the connect and ride satnav when in the cradle.. I.E connected for phone calls and sena headset.. "No connections to TFT" dose it still update your Motoradd app on your phone as it still states connect app to motorcycle.. I've look through the connections menu but it dose not give a option to connect the motoradd app.. there are just 3 that I can connect via bluetooth.. I.E phone/headset and pillion head set.. dose the connect and ride app also need to be paired as well my mobile and sena head set or if you paired the phone dose it also auto connect the motoradd connect and ride app? only asking this as sometimes the after being on a ride it dose not update the motoradd app on my phone..

Either way will be using the connect and ride satnav now as sold my satnav 6.. Only time will tell if I regret that!

If your phone is connected to the Bike (through 'Connections' on the TFT menu system) then the Connect App will work automatically if you have opened it on the phone.

I have a Nav 5 but don't use it at all now, I just use the app on my mobile.

yes.. that may well work.. but been advised everything is paired via the connect and ride navigator.. As nothing should be paired in the TFT connections... As if I wasn't confused already.. Sorry got rid of my satnav 6 now .. lol..

For the Connected app on your phone to be updated with bike status when using the ConnectedRide nav, two conditions need to be met.

1. You need to be logged into both the CRN and the phone, with your BMW ID.

2. The CRN and phone need to see the cloud. i.e, both need to have either WiFi or mobile data access. Connecting the two via Bluetooth will not allow the CRN to see the cloud.

If your CRN does not have a SIM card installed, then it can be connected to your phone via the phones WiFi hotspot. This will allow it to see the cloud.

Victor thanks for the reply.. YES.. my phone and CRN are logged with my BMW ID.. and using my phones wifi.. as you suggested no connections to the TFT.. will check next time I'm out on a ride if the app updates.. pending weather this Thursday which up to now seems fine with no rain so may venture out up to the ponderosa approx 11.30 am will confirm Tomorrow evening if your out and around that area may see you there.. if not thanks for your help concerning the CRN connections. Sorry if I've read your comment wrong! Can I just check with you.. when you say logged in with your phone and the CRN.. are you saying you need to pair both the phone and BMW ID as of 2 separate pairing modes? As thought when you pair your phone it's auto connects to the BMW motoradd app as your phone is already paired with the motoradd app installed already on my phone..

When I said logged in with your phone, that should be via the connectedride app installed on your phone.
I find my app will sometimes take up to 5 mins to show the up to date status of my bike once it has shutdown.
I also have my CRN connected to my house Wi-Fi, which reaches my garage, so it will update via that, if my phone is not connected.

Currently, I’m free on Thursday, so if you do decide to have a run over to this way, let me know. I’ll keep an eye out on this thread.
The Ponderosa is closed until the new-year, but could meet up at the Old Stores just outside Mold.
