Connecting garmin power lead

I have just received a Garmin power-lead and want to hardwire it into the bike. Has anyone done this? If so have you got any advice, or should I get the job professionally done?

There are several ways of connecting your GPS to your bikes electrical system. Simplest probably is direct to the battery terminals.

You may find a diagram in the your GPS handbook that gives cable polarity. Like the one below [276c]
