I am asking for anyone with experience of non BMW heated grips, I have fitted a set to my wifes bike and currently they are wired to the battery, I want to wire them to a live feed from the ignition so that they cannot be left on by accident.

Anyone with any suggestions as to which is the the best feed to wire into?
I had thought about trying to find the feed to the switch that the OEM ones would use (obviously as this is never had them fitted the switch is not actually there). I dont actualy wish to use the OEM switch as this has a variable temp switch not just on off hi and lo.

Just wondering if people have tried various feeds and if one is better or worse than another.

Thanks in advance for assistance..

ive got non standard grips on mine.

I used the Symtec heated grips supplied by our own "winding roads".

I think you have to check really, realistically do you need the adjustable temp control? I hooked mine up to the existing bmw switch and they are just on or off, never bother with the low setting.

Otherwise you could tap into the horn feed (doesnt matter if that blows)

could you also use the brake light?

The latest Oxford grips have built in voltage sensing and switch themselves off shortly after engine off so no flat battery, just wire them to the battery direct, a great improvement on the originals but the heat setting LEDs are a bit dazzling at night!
