Hi
Not happy with the rear grip on my standard tourances on my Triple Black GS on trips abroad this year so thinking of changing rear for one of these.
I do not go off road, Which one would be best ?

Cheers

Have not tried the trail attacks but had 15k or so of the Road Attacks on the HP and they were great for road riding :thumb2

My rear Trail Attack 2 is coming up for replacement after 13k miles of mostly M way commute, which is a lot longer than previous Bridgestones or Dunlops have lasted. No complaints about the grip or road manners of it either. I'll be having another in the next couple of weeks.

Be carefull with trail attack front, start to get a wobble when halfway worn!

I tried a road attack rear on my GS. It had less tread and wore out quicker than the trail attack.

IIRC the trail attacks have stiffer sidewalls especially for heavier bikes.

I've had a few sets of trail attacks on now, and have now got a trail attack 2 on.

13k miles
Looked at Michelin Pilot Road TRAIL ? Specifically for big trail bikes. Get good write ups, just fitted a pair to my 2013 GSA. Bought online for £195, then had a local fitter do the business for £20 to loose wheels

I moved from tourance to trail attack and I wouldn't recommend them over tourance. The bike just feels odd now it's like it has a soft front tyre but it hasnt. Haven't had Road attacks on the BMW but I have had then on a TDM and they were good. I will either go that route or back to tourances for the next set.

Never had a problem with grip and tourances wet or dry, ground stands are a witness to that. Odd that you think your lacking grip.

Does 13k sound like not very many or lots of miles? I got 9k out of my previous Battlewings. I'd happily go for Michelin if I thought they might be better.

Not felt any wobble up to 120ish mph yet. Sits as solid as you like at 90-100.

On my 3rd rear and 2nd front Trail Attack. Smooth, light, long wearing and really neutral when flipping left to right... wet or dry.

I've always had TA on mine, but when I get my wheels back I'm going to have Road Attack 2 Evo's put on to play next year......:D....a pure road tyre for the heavier bike, so I'm looking forward to playing on em.....

I wasn't impressed with Road Attack on a "normal" bike. The rear squared off badly and handling suffered really badly.
But I've never had close to 13K from any brand rear tyre so might try some TAs.

An amazing mileage. I get 5-6k and don't ride particularly fast, don't do 0-60 bollox etc. by that mileage they are squared off and good for nowt

Tyres = subjective, but I agree with Bendy Toy. I bought a GSA with Road Attacks on it, the front was in good condition but the rear was squared off. I used it for commuting and in the wet it really took the biscuit. In a straight line and hardly touching the throttle, you could tell it was struggling for traction over big metal covers on the road and more. I then replaced them with Tourance Nexts and what a fantastic change that was, completely different, loved them.

Not sure TA's are any more grippy than Tourances to be honest. I've got TA's on my GSA at the moment and they are good neutral tyres although they seem to have worn oddly.

If you are a pure road rider, have a look at PR3/4's which get good reports on GS's. I've got a set on a Caponord and they really do grip well but don't go near a muddy track with them:eek:

I'm thinking the Trail Attack 2 have stiffer construction than previous, because ma baby felt a bit choppy today...may be because it's colder and the suspension hadn't warmed up.

Re Post 12, the RA2 Evo is designed for mileage, especially when fitted to heavier bikes. I've got them on my 1200RT, & will put them on my GSA as & when new tyres are required.

Ordinary Tourance kept their profile on the GS as have Maxxis SuperMax (road touring) and Detour ( big trail).
I'm due for a new set so will either go for Conti TAs or try the budget option with Heidenau K76.
