Hi, I'm a newbie here and this is my first post. I have just ordered a GS1200 Rallye Sport. I’m looking for some crash bars for the cylinders and have seen many online. Are there any I should avoid and are there any people would recommend. I know it’s probably a personal choice, but I would appreciate any advice. Any photos would be good also. Thanks :beerjug:

Touratech engine bars are satin finished stainless steel and look really good.

Are you specifically looking for crash bars, or just seeking to protect the vulnerable heads in case you loose your footing or have a sliding off on tarmac? If the latter, you may also wish to consider X-Heads from Machineart Moto. Have a look at their YouTube video of the main man dropping his LC onto a concrete floor - still look even if your only interested in crash bars! Eek!!

I went with the standard BMW lowers and Wunderlich uppers. If you want to fit driving lights with the Wunderlich uppers you’ll need a separate bracket from Nippy Norman’s.

I have the GS TE Exclusive, with silver frame, black engine, and in my mind either silver or black would have worked. As I went for bmw standards, satin silver it was, with machine art xheads. Works well, I think. bmw standards are quite chunky, which you may or may not like.

Myself I wouldn't be tempted to go colour coded blue but, as you've said, it's personal taste.

Saw a post on the forum some weeks back showing a rallye with some neat black bars, which were a bit out of the ordinary, have a search.

Me too, had the lights fitted as well, wunderlich uppers , bmw standard lowers.

I have the touratech bars. they saved the bike when I threw it down the road this year at 35 - 40 mph, nearly ground through the bar but they did the job.

SW Motech lower bars work, however the quality is a bit of a miss. Corrosion showing around the welded joints.

Wunderlich Blue

Obtained the Wunderlich blue ones from Motorworks pleased with the quality and colour match.Easy fit good instructions including torque for bolts.
Rocker covers can be removed for service without moving them.
Dont forget the bracing bar between the two is a separate order if you go for them.

Avoid Touratech at the moment or at the very least check delivery times....I'll have waited 8 weeks for the crash bar extensions for my GSA OEM bars.

Still waiting for TTuk to confirm they have landed and to pay for them.

Hi, Thanks for all the comments. I have opted for the Wunderlich blue ones should be here tommorrow from Nippy Normans.

Another question, have you also fitted a fender extender and mud slinger? Do they work well and stop you getting covered in road grime?

The best thing for stopping the rider getting covered in crap is the Puig infill panels.
Fender extender will save the front of the engine.
