R1300GS / the good the bad & the ugly

a few Pan owners must be clenching their bottoms watching that too!

Back in the US where it all does not matter because of all the freedom the cops give us…LOL And yes the EU4 2017/18 were shockingly flat and gutless but even a up to 2016 EU3 R1200GS has nothing compared to the fat torque wave of the 1250…Like I said the 1250 feels as strong in 4th gear as the 1200 in 3rd ! As for frame flex you can feel it steering quick in at speeds between 80-120 fast aka spirited backroad riding as also the high speed instability with boxes that start above 110 which can get dangerous if you dont know what you are doing…You have to clamp the tank and leave the bars alone otherwise she might spit you off…Also breaking hard out of high speed into tight turn can make the rear wobble like the old 916-998 Ducatis did with the trellis…I suspect back in 2012 when the 1200 was all new the tires where not as sticky and could induce so much load into the chassis like the new Metzeler Tourance Next 2 or Conti Trail Attack 3 can…Once in a turn she is dead stable but accelerating out hard you can feel the frame again which is actually fun and has no negative effect on handling…But this should be all solved with the stiffer weldest pressed steel frame , stiffer shock and bags that have some play how they are mounted 👍 All it needs now the longer stroke , bigger tank and some decent looking taillight and the radar box removed because radar cruise or emergency brake system are as useful on a bike as tits on a boars back 🤣 And of course a decent sounding exhaust 🙏 And all is finally good 👍

What a load of old ball cocks.

Boys sorry if you just ride around and dont push it everything is fine and even the 19 liter tank is big enough…LOL As for the new 1300 a testride with bags will give the final answers…!

The only pushing will be when the on/off button fails

Its about time this knob who is not adding to the forum other than techno gabble with little personal knowledge left this great site.......it wouldn't be the first time I'm sure an internet forum came to the same conclusion..................

It's called free speech. Boxerlust may keep pouring out the same old mantra, so what, he may be irritating but it's harmless.
If you don't like it, use the ignore button.

CPJS…Free speech…Use it or loose it 👍As for the new GS the customer is king and its feedback what the customer wants…Not convinced yet but I hope with the next update BMW gets it right…So far the next generation has not moved the goalpost far enough or after a testride maybe the fundamentals are right but tank size , tail light and front radar box need to be redone…to look right ! 19 liter tank on a sport-Tourer ? What a joke…Even in the days of the slash 5 you had the option of a 17 or 24 liter tank…! And a real tool box pouch with nice tools and tire repair kit/pump…! No progress here either…

Dec 23 german MOTORRAD will finally cone out with the Too/Trst of the 1300GS in comparison with the 1250GS 👍 Some real numbers on dyno , weight , l / 100 km , roll-on , braking , handling parcours , braking 100-0…Finally some answers via real data !

sorry if already mentioned, but for those of you who utilise an Abba Superbike stand or Skylift, i emailed them earlier this week and they confirmed that they will be making new adapters for the 1300 GS.

Be interesting to see how they are going to do it as there's no swingarm hole I can see at one side. Skylift utilizes swingarm pivot points usually. Hope the adaptor kit they come up with doesn't cost a fortune :-) --- I have Skylight already, from my 1250 GS, and a 1300gs on its way.

Tried the connected ride cradle, and it really isn't worth the money, and is a bit of a chunky boy too so sent that back. Will instead mount my quadlock wireless charger in place of the cradle (the quadlock mirror mount is a perfect fit for the cradle bar, btw). https://www.quadlockcase.co.uk/products/mirror-mount-motorcycle-scooter?variant=38928185810

Have ordered this connector; hopefully can stick a USB socket on the end of it, I'll just run a USB from the fuse box up to the dash for power.

I don;t know why BMW don't just make their own USB/Nav connector plug as an accessory.

*(Edit, just seen Nippy Nomrans do a USB C version, so ordered that nstead.

Anyone any experience yet with the new BMW GPS ? How is the Tomtom vs the old Garmin that had to be replaced every other year it seemed…Started to f up every time you needed it but at least Garmin was good replacing it with another glitchy unit…LOL

Had one of my Garmins 5 years and it's been reliable and completely trouble free (Nav5) and the Nav6 so far has been likewise.
