Arrrrrrrhhhhhhh. I have been waiting for my 2016 R1200 GS TE Triple Black since the beginning of Sept. Had the call on Weds 28/10 confirming the Beemer has landed at the dealership. That has been the longest wait of my life. I've been following you guys on here for a few tips & advice along the way. All the extra bits I ordered through Nippy Norm all turned up over the last few wks (bit worried after a few of the comments on here). Sorted the insurance this morning. Rang the dealership and confirmed all good to go for collection tomorrow 31/10. A few hours later - really sorry to tell you………..we've crashed the bike during the PDI check ……WTF  I've seen the bike - had a slide down one side whilst hitting a patch of diesel going around the r'bout. Witnessed by plod and confirmed no fault of the rider. I'm glad to say no damage to the rider so just one of those things I suppose. BMW have now ordered another with the best available date for the end of December. Now I gave up getting excited at Christmas quite a few years ago, but feck me I can't wait for this one to arrive.

Anybody else gone through anything similar ?

Bad luck. At least they're not patching it up but ordering you a new one.
Good attitude.....just one of them things.
Roll on Christmas :thumb2

If it's end of December, tell them not to register it until 1 Jan 2016 - it'll be worth an extra quid or two when you sell it.

I once assisted in pulling a £60k Range Rover out of a ditch after it had been parked there by one of our technicians out on a PDI road test

The hedge it went through before landing in the ditch was pretty fucked too :blast

That, and have you tried for a loaner until December?

I would certainly be giving that a go......A nice new RT to run around on for a month of shyte weather :D

I feel for you, I know how I was counting the days before I could collect my bike.

At least the dealers been straight with you which is to be applauded.

Enjoy your new bike when it arrives.

.... and don't forget to postpone your insurance start date - the admin cost (if there is one) will be covered by the time delay in re-delivery of the unbent new bike.

Probably be best to cancel it , might be able to do that for free within the few days, as the policy will have to be changed to reflect the details of new bike.

Oh no.

Ask them if they can find another in either the dealer network, or through BMW UK. A few dealers have showroom stock, some may even be in a box still, so it may be worth asking your dealer if they can source one for you.:thumb

Have you thought about having the crashed one? Bit of hammerite and elephant tape should hide the blemish. It seems such a waste of the worlds resources otherwise.

What a bummer, at least they've been honest with you - I wonder if they'll be as honest with the potential new owner after they've patched the smashed one up.....

That's another option. I'd offer them £7k less than retail for it, as they tend to pull figures out of the sky to repair a bike after a simple drop, so that should be a fair offer.:thumb

Here's an example from across the pond, $4600 to repair a dropped (off its sidestand) 1150.

Back in the summer Blade Group Swindon were selling a crashed GSA TE that had been a Demo bike from their sister BMW dealer in Brum

Bent handlebars, damaged nearside rocker cover & crashbar, broken beak, broken nearside hand guard and there was something else

Oh yes, a broken nearside engine mount :blast
