Exactly - Look after it like you own it outright and hand it back in perfect condition. You will have had two great years with the bike and are handing it back in superb condition for someone else to get as much enjoyment out of it as you did. I don't get why anyone would do anything less.

Might be a daft question, but assuming you've got it on the silly PCP deal so are handing it back at the end why are you getting it detailed and ceramic coated?

So when you hand it back in 24months it will not only be a bargain buy for somebody but an immaculate bargain buy for somebody.

The type of buyers for these Nortons will probably be in this mind set as folk who look after bikes regardless but also won't want to be landed with extra charges if handed back to the finance company in sub-standard condition.

Makes it easier to wash, and as above my OCD won’t let me live with the swirly paint. And maybe I’ll keep it.

This may well be the last chance to buy an un-homologated bike, so I’ll treat it as though I were going to keep it and then see what happens.

Not such a happy start to my ownership. When I picked it up I noticed a few bits of paint damage but once in the studio it looks quite bad. The bike had 8 miles on it, and apparently that’s as they are all ridden on pre-delivery service, but there are scratch marks on the tank in front of the seat and elsewhere

The dealer needs to know ASAP so they can't get put of it by suggesting that you scratched it.
I would be getting dealer to replace the affected panels and tank.

Yes, I’ve been in touch with the dealer, and sent them a video and a few more pictures. So far pretty non-commital, I would have thought they would have been making more effort to rectify this.
It’s a bad state for a new bike to be delivered in.

So now the dealer has accused me, or rather the detailer, of “applying” something to the paint to highlight the marks, which is of course nonsense. It’s just been photographed under studio lights which are pretty unforgiving but give a true picture.

More like the dealer or Norton polished it to hide marks and put swirls in the paint as a result. I had a dealer do this once and when I removed polish to prep for ceramic coating the said marks became very obvious.
If they panel prep what they have accused you of applying and when the marks are still there they will look pretty stupid.
Rather than them sort it they may be prepared to pay your detailers invoice to correct it as far as possible if you have greater faith in them as in my case. Personally I would push for a new tank.
If they don't play ball, name and shame them.

That’s my concern now, that they basically put fillers in rather than correcting it and then slap a ceramic on the top to mask the problems.

Looks like it will all polish out at least or does any of it catch a finger nail? Still, pretty poor. I should imagine it is quite common though, bikes/cars being delivered covered in scratches and swirls.

Mine had 5 miles on.

Apparently they are ridden to the SVA test, so all have a couple miles on.

I suppose plus whatever the dealer puts on road testing?

Beautiful looking bike. I was tempted by the latest incarnation and spent more time than I should have done hovering around the Norton stand to Brands last year. Another couple of beers and I would probably have ordered one. Would love to know what you're riding experiences once it's run in and do you have got to know it
