Further to earlier post about dissolving gearbox....
Credit where it’s due…..
Now some of you will remember the list of faults on my 1200GS being somewhat long, culminating in gearbox number 3 melting on the m4 only 300 miles after being fitted.
Battersea service and I have something of a “chequered relationship” shall we say but everything seems to be coming together this time.
Nothing in writing yet except for this (oops) however Park Lane have made me an offer I can’t refuse:
Take my bike off me and I never see it again
Let me hold onto one of their demo 1200GS until my brand new bike turns up
Take possession of brand new machine in a quite reasonably short period of time, pay very reasonable indeed trade in. I won’t go into the exact details - verbal contract and all that…..but if we get this signed, HappyMarcus.
As an aside, I’ve been on a 2,000 mile 55 plate borrowed 1200GS since mine dissolved on the M4.
New bikes sound, feel, act rather differently to the early ones. Built quality seems to have improved too.
I’m not cracking out the bubby just yet, but should have a new, working bike soon.
Tip: Don’t buy a bike made in October. Ze Germans have more interesting things to do in October than work so gearboxes end up being made from bottletops as far as I can tell.
Tony & Graham in sales at Park Lane, Chris and PL2&half in Battersea. Good work (I hope…….)
