Hi All

Riding at the weekend and I noticed that the cruise control button (forward position) has stopped work. No pressure from the switch or whatever is underneath the switch. The back position still works...

Anyway booked in for "investigation" 23rd July, earliest available :(

Has anybody else started to see any issues with the switch gear...

Bike has only done 2000 miles...

Must admit I thought the switch seemed a bit flimsy when I test rode the bike. But then you don't put any real pressure on it.

Hope they sort it quickly and there isn't any part supply problems:eek:

Because that would be the end of the world as we know it if your cruise control button stopped working :blast

Damn those bastard Germans!

Not the end of the world, true. But when you have a new bike it's special, problems tarnish that. We have paid a lot of money for a bike that is supposed to have been well tested, so we DON'T want any issues:hide

No issues with my switchgear (yet!). A few in the US have had switchgear failures, but I've not heard of anyone with snapped cc buttons.

I started, almost as soon as I got the bike, to squirt a drop of WD40 into the edges of the switchgear after a wash. I have done this on all my bikes, may or may not keep them in good condition.
The switches in the modern canbus systems are minuscule devices that only switch signals and anything that can keep them sweet is good............

The 1600 when it came out had problems with a batch of main beam switches, as did the F800R which shares the same switch, so problems with new bikes are not unknown, nor price (or perceived value / longevity) any reliable guide to quality. They, and the 800, also had problems with a batch of radiator caps; bikes share more common parts than you might think.

I think the 1600 has the same cruise control as the new 1200WC, at least it looks similar from memory. I haven't read of any significant problems with the 1600, so you may just be unlucky. Either way, it will be replaced under warranty and you'll not be much inconvenienced.
