CRUISE CONTROL QUERY

And just to remind people that may not know, if for some reason your bike is in enduro mode and you try to engage cruise control, it doesn't work. I once selected enduro mode on a bumpy road to try and see what effect it had on the ride and then tried later on to engage cruise.

I had one of those oh shit moments when I thought it was buggered. Of course it wasn't, just operator error !

Obvious, when you think about it.

Best way to ccome off cruise control smoohly is close the throttle then lightly push it further (in the closed direction) , much smoother than using the clutch/dabbing the brakes or trying to switch it off using the cruise control switch

+1

The dealer told me this was the best way and I've found it works ok. My LC is a bit lurchy doing it any other way

But how can that be ? you come off the throttle and the bike has to slow down. By keeping a bit of throttle and a quick pressure of the clutch lever, the clutch doesn't actually disengage but the micro switch engages and cancels the cruise so you just keep the same speed but without the cruise.

Oh well, each to his/her own.

Hi mrtee, I guess its riding style as not everyone rides the same.

In a cruise usage scenario its almost exclusively highway, and the reason I need to come off is because I see a hazard/some cars are doing something where I want to back off and increase my braking distance. The nudge forward (off) of the throttle merely disengages enough so i get some slight engine breaking to slow me down. Job done.

Fair enough !

I just apply a tad of throttle and just apply a bit of pressure to the clutch lever which is just enough to trip the clutch switch and the transition is absolutely seamless . No abrupt deceleration, and no lighting up the brake lights unnecessarily.

Oh, and I never actually slide the cruise switch to off, ever ! It's always in the on position.

Plus one. Roll the throttle to match engine speed (when you just begin to feel resistance), then the lightest touch on the clutch lever will operate the microswitch and disengage the cruise. No need to declutch.

as above, and funnily enough that's just how it's designed to work.

For anyone else interested, this works perfectly for a smoother transition off the cruise control:thumb2:thumb2
