cut out suddenly

got an 05 gs,coming back the road this eve all of a sudden it cut out,pulled in and all electrics working,starter turning engine over but no start-should I hear the fuel pump running on ign on?(dont have the bike long so cant remember)where should I start?

When you switch the ignition on you should hear the pump prime for a couple of seconds.

is there a fuse box hidden somewhere on a gs,just hoping it might be a fuse?

No it's all electronic fuses if you like and self reseting. It's all in a control unit under the tank.

If you don't hear the pump prime and everything else looks normal along with the kill switch set to run. Chances are it's the fuel pump controller on the top of the tank. You can bridge it out as a test. Have a search on here about it as there are loads of threads.

got it home pulled the fuel controller of,ran wires from the battery and it fired up right away
anyone got one for sale?

Check first that it shouldn't have been recalled for a warranty replacement.

I bought it private but called the dealer after to see if there were any recalls outstanding,they said it needed to come in for the fuel pump recall,as I'm over 3 hours away in Ireland I said I'll leave it till I'm up the way,wont make the trip especially,chopped out the circuit board out of my controller and wired the plug direct,controller back in,plug in and running again,if 1 comes up for sale I'll buy it and keep the direct wired 1 as a spare

Ah ok didn't look to see where you were. You could try some of the sponsors from up top (Sherlock motorworks) for a used one or I belive they are about £75 for a new one. Or just keep going the way you are until you can get to the dealer. At least your mobile again.

As it's a recall they told me i had to bring it in, do they post out parts for diy recall work in the UK?

I meant for a replacement fuel pump controller module. I've not heard of a recall on those.

The current 'campaign' (not a recall) is for a check for cracking of the quick connect stubs on the fuel tank flange and fitting of reinforcing collars. If your FPC needs replacing I'd expect they'll charge you for it.

yep,the fuel pump they told me the recall was for,well the bike is running again thanks again to the lads for pointing me in the right direction,of course the dealer will post out a fpc,prob by courier at a xl charge,to be honest the dealer will be the last resort for me,a fpc will come up on this site soon as I'd rather put a few quid in a members pocket than the dealer,the dealers wont give out advice foc like the site members

There was a recal a few years ago on some early bikes for replacement fuel pump controller. They changed them from the bare alloy to coated. They changed the shape of the tank on later bikes marginally that they reckoned stopped the FPC from failing.

This has nothing to do with the current flange campaign
