Dangerous Question

I for one, certainly did not feel welcome after mentioning that I had a Vara, and that I have read (from you yes) that the GS is crap for a list price of 10 grand considering it's childish problems...
:

Can't see why you'd not feel welcome on here just because you have a Varadero  There's a good few that have posted on here for a number of years that don't feel the need for a GS.. horses for courses and whatever floats your boat :)

Childish problems they may well be, but I'd hazard a guess to say that the overall ownership experience more than makes up for the problems ( for most)

I for one can't see myself ever having anything else... having discovered the GS after approximately 50 Jap bikes

Stick around and enjoy the place :beerjug:

Are you the publishing guy I met at Glen of Aherlow ?

If so, it's you and your mates there that really got me hooked on going for the GS.
I had the test ride earlier in the summer and was still undecided.

(Wife and I were caravanning  with Blue X3 Beemer)

Yep, that was me, it was good to chat and I'm pleased the great camping unwashed among us have helped convince you to go for a BMW. I think most on here would say go for the GS, in either the 1200 or 1150 guise, many would even say the 1100 is as good, regardless of its age. They are great bikes and although there have been a few niggles a long the way, nothing major really with the majority of bikes, I'd be happy to take mine anywhere. The ride reports on here and on ADVrider.com show that many people do.

So it's your fault Expat and the guy from Camberley (Rtd Policeman I think he said)
I have an old K75s that I've had for years, a gift from my wife:D many years ago. So a GS will not be my first beemer. Turkey to the G of A sounded such a good blast and when you mentioned someone who'd been to Siberia I got hooked more on the GS choice and looked up this forum.
Some brilliant photo's and great skylines on some of the long distance trips. All brought back childhood and biking memories. So the GS is now the plan :):):):)
