Just had a visit from my neighbour, my bike alarm keeps going off. Had a look at it and it looks as though its broken, can't start the bike. Is there anyway I can:D disable it so that I can use the bike...before I call out BMW Assist.....

Try disconnecting and reconnecting the bike battery.

is the battery in your remote plip ok.

Yes plip battery ok, it seems to flash ok. The alarm has now stopped working completely, doesnt self activate anymore. One of the faults I get, when I turn the ignition on I get intermittent RID illuminating. Did think it might be the side stand switch, but why would that cause the alarm to intermittently activate.....:D Will try the battery in the morning.

try the datatool website,i think it has a troubleshooting section or you could try emailing them, could be a simple reset option

Thanks...

for your replies.....:D

Had the bike recovered to CW who diagagnosed moisture in th control unit, Datatool replacing under warranty and will have my bike back tomorrow...:D

all the plip light illuminating shows is the bulb is working!!

and check the battery for the plip using a meter,if its a 3volt battery it needs to show 3 or more volts any less and it will not activate the plip..

have a check of the earth connections for the alarm that is a good source of problems these days..

other than that check all the wiring for the alarm for good connections..

best of luck!:aidan

Thanks for that, also tested it with my second plip....made no difference....:D

BTW I think that the datatool system breaks into some circuits, eg. starter and fuel pump, so you cant just cut it - you have to re-join the breaks.
