Day jaunt to France

Where are we going?

:reynolds

That is a very good question.

I hadn't expected quite such a large motley crew.

Seeing as we are now up to roughly 14, I will have to check that the small cafe at Cap Griz Nez can fit us all in.

More importantly, I have to check that it's open!

Depending on what I can find out from the cafe will dictate what time we should try to get there. The route is OK, the only bit that might need to be jigged about is a short burst of motorway to cut around Boulogne.

More later...

No Brun Nez-ing here, but this gaff would do for a group of rough boys.

trying to come, but waiting for me passport to come back.so will have to wait and see.

Unfortunately the nosebag is nowhere near the route!

Shouldn't the route pass by L'Enduro?

Aha, I can see that :thumb2

We hope to be able to use the cafe at Cap Griz Nez - not least as ChasMill and I want to use it's few bedrooms as an overnight stop on the way to Le Mans 2010 in June - but will hold L'Enduro as a reserve, for sure.

I will be going over to France this weekend and hope to visit mine genial at Cap Griz Nez to find out which way the vent is blowing.

I don't think that Mr Judge's comments were aimed at you Wandering Star - but, none-the-less, being a subscribed tosser is a good move!

As Lord Masters of Enfield says not directed at you Mr Wandering Star, I directed it well to the East of you, Far East in fact :D

Phew! Glad you weren't talking about me. I live West of London :thumb2

Come on Tom you tight arse, pay your money like a real man! Its not like you dont get enough entertainment on this site is it!

No offence taken but I might just lurk on the fringes until my status as a fully fledged tosser is a little more secure. All booked and look forward to the outing.

Update

I went to France today. 270 mile jaunt; not bad for a first run out since October.

1. The cafe is open and very happy to see us all.

2. There are 14 of us, I think, which is great but it means we will near enough be taking over the whole place. Understandably, as it's a family run affair the owner would appreciate it if we can all tuck in, especially as we will be most of his Saturday lunchtime trade.

He runs a very reasonably priced menu, definitely not expensive by any stretch of the imagination. Usual favourites, all there: Moules et frites, steak and chips etc. etc. etc.

3. I will shorten up the route a bit. The second leg I did today was 90 miles all on D roads taking, not surprisingly, two hours. No great problem but leaves us arriving at the cafe too late.

4. Monsieur Frog Farmer has been out and about with a vengeance, so plenty of mud on the roads.

5. I have promised the cafe that I will reconfirm the numbers on the Wednesday before the Saturday.

Unless anyone lets me / ChasMill know otherwise - via this thread, please - I will tell the cafe that we will all be there, rain or shine :thumb2

Cheers

Richard

If it is pissing down then I am not going. I am guessing that might be an issue based on the quote above.

In all seriousness, if that is the case would you rather I drop out now? I was always planning on making a last minute-ish decision based on weather.
