Day jaunt to France

I do but I am not sure that I will use the helmet with the mic in.

Channel 4 on my Kenwood, from memory.

I'll set mine to the same.

If I pull my finger out, I might even get the headset reinstalled in a helmet before the trip!!

Similarly, the French police are very hot on:

Passport
Driving Licence (don't forget the green counterparty, too)
Valid Insurance

And V5 proof of ownership too - a very serious crime in France not to have this with you.

That is mine switched off then.

Perhaps we could communicate by PM instead?

Gosh - I've just discovered that my Kenwood is a Far East copy. Goodness only knows what frequencies it broadcasts on. If I find out I'll PM you.

Anyone know if the immigration service enforce the '6 month' validity of passport rule?
I have just seen my passport expires in June!!!!!

Three months, assuming you have a British (or EU) passport for entry into France.

There was nobody in the French booths when I went last week.

Plenty in the UK ones on the way back though, ever vigilant in the war on terror.

Last summer I popped across to France with some work mates for a ride out. I only realised I'd forgot my passport when refilling at the service station prior to the tunnel. Great ! On part I thought, as I had actually organised the trip! To far to go back , so got mrs dxtans to text me my passport number. So I went for it. I rode in the middle of the rest of the bikes thru passport control. Got thru no issues.
Had a great day over there. However, coming back from the french side, I knew the game would be up. I owned up, saying I had forgot my passport, they asked for my credit card and passport number, the immigration cross-checked my credentials. Took about 10 mins, but allowed thru OK. Phew....
Never again though will I forget my passport.

Last time I went was Sep/Oct last year and at no stage was the passport required.

I was on a pushbike though. Then again who ever heard of a suicycle bomber.

The one thing our enemy the terrorist won't be criticised on is their carbon reducing policy of keeping well within our green transport policies, trains, tubes, buses are all in vogue, in fact you wonder whether they are so in tune with Government wishes they'll learn Latin as well so riding cycles surely its only a matter of time.

And what's the betting they'll use the many psycho-paths to reach their intended targets :augie
