DCT problem?

My AT is in for the first service and to put a few bits on , I'm very pleased with the whole bike and especially the DCT, you either like it or hate it, this is my 3rd DCT model ,

But, I was out riding in the week, approached a left hand corner , indicated, took the corner ( I was in S3 mode) accelerated out of the corner, went to cancel the indicator and hit the downshift button which is just underneath the cancel button, WOW I was lucky to hold on , thought I'd wet myself, I won't be doing that again, not intentionally anyway,
Rider error of course, Can't blame the bike, :blagblah

I did the same once , luckily the clutch won't let the wheel lock so it's more of a butt clencher than a game changer if you know what I mean. I have now got used to just letting the self cancelling indicators do its thing, they work well. They seem stay on longer when overtaking taking but cancel pretty quickly when exiting a roundabout for example. First time out on mine for 4 months yesterday and I whilst riding in manual I had a brain fart and changed up when I meant to flash someone (the upshift is in the same place as the flasher on my Guzzi)Most of the time I just ride in Sport .
It was great to be out again , the V4 is such a lovely engine.

Further update today from S4MST3R

.........

Hi All

A little update. Honda technicians have spotted something in data collected by a gearbox sensor and are replacing. I don't fully understand what and why at the moment. I'd have thought that rather than replacing sensors they'd uncover the root cause of the abnormal reading........ I suppose a faulty sensor is possible

Nothing else to report, but I'll update you early next week when I hear more

The CRF has now been back in the hands of the dealer & Honda for longer than it was in my hands :-(

Fella, you've got to get the Root Cause of this issue, replacing a sensor wouldn't do it for me.
In Japinglish, "what is countermeasure", that's what I got hit over the head with when I was involved with Japanese customers in the semiconductor industry.

What's going on?

EDIT: nothing to do with DCT. Rider got overtrousers caught on something around footpeg area :D

Clearly poor ergonomics leading to a potentially dangerous situation - don't worry they will have fixed it on next year's model ;)

A nice 250 miles today (0nly managed 100 miles last Saturday ) DCT performed faultlessly and intuitively again as it indeed has for nearly 10,000 miles now.
Great days riding with my best riding buddy .... Who once again commented how well my bike went on some of our many nippy overtakes past the bank holiday traffic. It just picks up it skirt and goes especially thanks to the seamless shift . Fast A roads and nadgery single track grassy lanes with tight switchbacks over the Welsh mountains, feet up full lock U turns, all in its stride without the need for a clutch lever. I even managed to blip the throttle a few times at standstill in a tunnel without losing control ( just hit the neutral button first) so I could hear that lovely exhaust sound .

Sorry but no problems here, will be the first to eat humble pie if it does go all Pete Tong :thumb

I'm starting to think that the couple of reported 'issues' that have been doing the rounds recently are nothing more than operator error. I mean, it's much easier to blame the technology than admit you make a fcuk up, isn't it ?

But then, I'm no engineer...:aidan

S4MST3R has gone very quiet which either means:

  • He has got his bike back and all is well and he is out enjoying it.
  • He has got his bike back and the DCT has killed him.
  • Honda/Arsey have hired a hit squad to take him out for suggesting that a Honda could have any kind of technical issue

:D:D:D

Somebody who allegedly had a problem lurching forwarded out of control from a near standstill apparently admitted that he realised later on that he had actually been rear ended :blast

I really bought my bike DESPITE the fact that it had DCT . I loved the look and spec' and bought it on a little bit of a whim I wasn't sure if I should NOT buy it because it was a DCT version, I was concerned how it might ride and also about resale but I could find a manual version in the same spec .
i even bought it , some might say very foolishly, without any test ride so the first time I rode it was on picking the bike up from its previous owner. So far all is good :thumb

I've only managed 180 miles on my manual AT, all on dry roads however, I have washed the bike twice. My set switch is fecked, there's just no feel to it when I push it in and I have to pull it back out, it doesn't feel as if it's stuck, more like something at the back has gone Pete Tong...

Mine is getting replaced as it had been a bit sticky. I squirted silicone spray into it and it's now fine, but they can swop it anyway. They've also ordered new heated grips as they just aren't warm enough....however, I don't think it's the actual grips that are the problem. Probably the controller/thermostat that is the root cause.

got bike serviced on Friday. new set switch replaced, was sticking from brand new. Grips replaced also . slightly warmer but not great improvement. spokes also corroding

I spoke to my dealer about the spokes before I bought my AT as I had corrosion issues with the spokes on my Harley, he was convinced they were of sufficient quality to ensure the same issue wouldn't arise. I'm not happy to hear you have corrosion already, can you post a picture
