DCT problem?

That doesn't sound so good, none of the other guys have mentioned any issues with the spokes but if mine start corroding I'll be having an interesting chat with the salesman

take a look on advrider site or africatwinforum. plenty of people having issues
 
The spokes are allegedly stainless steel. Now, I've always believed that stainless steel used by the Jap manufacturers is of a much lower quality than used by the likes of KTM. The spokes on my 1190 were like new when I parted with it, tho' I know I am fastidious in trying to keep my toys tip top. I guess time will tell, and if they do go bad, I'll most likely get them re-spoked with quality items.

the spokes are the same crap quality ones that were in 700 translps. I think there nikel plated. mine did exact same thing then. got them cleaned up but its only a matter of time until they return back to what they were
every individual one has been coated in acf50
 
It really is appalling that a company like Honda can release a brand new bike onto the market with these sorts of problems, poor switch gear, spokes that rust within days and possible gearbox problems that can cause you to crash unless you are very careful - it really is not on on the 21st century is it? - they are taking the piss because they know that there are a significant number of gullible people who will believe the hype and part with their cash ;)

He's just doing exactly the same as a lot of people on here did when the LC GS was released. It seems that there are some that can give it out, but can't take it back.:rolleyes:

It's all a bit tongue in cheek but it's good to get a bit of balance in that the Honda reliability/quality thing is a myth - all bike manufacturers have issues and BMW have taken a pasting at times and in some cases rightly so - what does make me chuckle though is that Hondas corrode and have sticky switches and the heated grips are rubbish, 3 of the same things that the GS got slagged off for :)

The heated grips on my Honda don't get anywhere as hot as those on the GS. I always wear very thin gloves and on full power the Hondas take the chill off and fingers feel pretty warm but not much more. It's hard to run on max for very long with th BMW ones unless I wear slightly thicker gloves.

The BMW switches are not made by BMW, the internal switch elements are from C&K switches (an American company) I believe, or used to be.

No I'm afraid don't know your surname, I prefer to address people by their first name but I could use your surname of you'd prefer..

I cant confess too be a Honda fan at all...every one I ever owned gave me some sort of trouble.....I thought this time being a flagship bike and really the only thing they make that will sell, they could have got it bang on first time...hope I don't regret it and should have got the 1190R.. only time will tell
lovely bike too ride but i wouldn't be bothered with all the niggles and having too run back and forth too dealer all the time if its a regular thing
spokes corroded in my 650 alp too but it was a £5500 bike and not £11000 like the Africa twin
 
I genuinely thought the spokes on the AT would be of a better quality than anything that would corrode after such a short time , I'll be keeping a close watch on mine, I'm not happy that my set switch is fecked after 180 miles......

my dealer was going too replace my wheels but the new ones will be exact same.. I have mine minted up and every spoke coated in acf50.
they will do for now just incase Honda do come up with a solution in the future..
in meantime just keep cleaning
