My 2p worth..
Dealer (who is as honest as they get - this is the 4th GS I have bought from him) told me to put the bike on a trickle charger when not being used for any length of time otherwise the battery can go flat.
I made a mistake and bought a 3 year tracker subscription. Typical bloke only read the instructions afterwards, instructions that said sign up to an annual renewal as BMW pay for the first year. To be fair to the Datatool subscription people, they refunded me the first year in full. Net result...£75 per year subscription for years 2 and 3. Winner. Terrific Datatool customer service bloke advised on how to use the tracker which was good for me as I've never had a tracker on the bike before. My Mrs now tracks my ride on the app and has a brew ready for when I get home - upside outweighs the downside - well now I am of an age where I keep my pipe and slippers in the panniers.
Insurance company is another story. No difference in premium but the tracker had to be active and fully subscribed or else the insurance is invalid. I also have to put my disc lock on when parked up for the insurance to be valid, again no insurance discounts for all this trouble.
Don't get me going about the AKRA pipe, the crash bars and panniers...it was a very long phone call to the insurer. Why employ people who know naff all about bikes at a specialist bike insurance company?..unless they are on the minimum wages I suppose...rant over.
