Dealer mileage during service

I had my 1300 collected for the adaptive ride height issue to be looked at for the 3rd time,my s1000r was due it's 600 mile service so they collected that too cut a long story short after having the bikes from Weds pm to the following Tues am I noticed on Sat my s1000r gad done 50 miles wtf !!! Why would they need to do 50 miles,anyone else had this happen, nothing to do with the 1300 I know.

50 miles is like a decent test ride for a prospective buyer.
I'd like more information from the dealer and a blood good explanation. He might ask you for proof of the milage before they had it. I take a picture when the wife car went in and check when I picked it up. Will be doing the same for the GS I think..

I took a picture before it went in plus 603 miles is what's in the service book what I didn't do unfortunately is take a picture when it came back I was 5 miles into a ride when I spotted it .

Your photos can be date and exactly positioned as long as yer havent edited them.

They never bother charging you for extras they find. Charge um back..
You may have to shop there again bare in mind.

if you have a tracker fitted it should reveal route/speed, not the rider obviously.

The driver who dropped my bike off said it looked dirtier than when he picked it up but I didn't think it was that bad just presumed they'd taken for a short test run , i always tell them not yo wash my bikes as sadly im a but anal with cleaning.Im annoyed as that should have prompted me to check the mileage and take another photo.

Strangely In conversation about whats changed since the buy out the driver said before they were sold to Virtu they used to let staff take bikes for the weekend but don't allow it now,but that was bikes they had for sale not customers bikes !

I know Maidenhead Bahnstormer used to allow their staff take the demo bikes away for the night, weekend. How can I be so certain you might ask?

Well, I rode one of their bikes as a loan bike when mine was in for a service back in the day. This particular bike was parked next to the used stock bike, complete with the price tag clipped on to the handlebar.
When I returned that evening from work collect my bike and whilst faffing in the queue, making payments etc, the staff started to bring the bikes in from the outside, leaving only one bike out there. It was the used stock bike, but now without the price tag on it. One of the techs took it home with him. So yes, Staff were allowed to take dealership demo or used bikes for their own pleasure.
Perhaps yours got taken by a "senior" member of staff, who has the "supreme authority" and no one can say shit about it.

Just remembered...

Dean (the main fellow) at Bahnstormer, even shown me a photograph of him away on a GS in Italy, that I have purchased as a used bike from them, just a few months later. It was registered to them as a Demo, then somebody purchased it, and PXed it against something else a fairly short while later. So I was the third owner on the logbook, between September 2014 and late March 2016.

Oxford Motorrad do that too. The Staff can take any demo/loan Bikes home for a ride too.

i doubt if someone took your bike home . maybe they couldn't get the update to stick and it had numerous test rides ?
i have on occasions done upto a 100 miles on a punters bike ( in 20 mile chunks ) to fix a tricky problem. but they were told about it or that is why it was in .
i doubt it was done "out of hours " , so that company insurance was valid whilst being ridden.
if i had to do alot of miles on a bike i would disconnect the speedo and fit a satnav for speed readings. on a low mileage (new) bike.

What could be a possibility is as I had 2 bikes in at the same time and they could have taken my s1000r out on a long test ride instead of my GS ? Long shot I know !

My concern is they've let a potential purchaser take it out on a test ride! It's also had petrol put in which I find a bit suspect.

if its the one in Baildon and they did want to get the bike fully warm and check the limiter they would possibly head to Skipton and back on the bypass so that is about 32 miles there and back.

I doubt very much they would let anyone out on it they've got bikes galore there.
