Boy was it hot today and the traffic in Saint-die-de-Vosges didn't help preventing a meltdown and a quick decision to avoid Colmar. Instead we had coffee at Le Lac Blanc and rode lots of great roads before stopping for lunch at La Schlut. Mid afternoon found us on the shores of the lake at Gerardmer but having no swimming trunks I decided to improvise and have a nice cool swim, at which point my Wife disowned me .
Leaving the Airbnb in the morning heading North to a Logis near Epernay. Saturday morning is a call at Geuex, then Vimey and overnight near Lille ready for a late morning Chunnel on Sunday, sad to leave but we've already pushed back the return crossing as far as we can.

Fantastic ride from Chaux Neuve over into Switzerland at Nyon.
Another hit of a hotel last night with sensational food. The best steak tartare we have ever tasted.

Such a super friendly host and she had excellent English.

Arrived Verdun
Pretty much D roads the whole way which started to get tedious towards the end, slowing down for villages as it’s officially hit 40 degrees on the way in.


Happy days - the hotel has cold beer and a pool !

And that was that - back on the boat. Showered and beer in hand.
Very good run up from France, through Belgium and into the Netherlands and Europort.

Some motorway delays but thankfully, the Euro drivers know how to get out of the way and let you filter on through.

Only one car blocked my path - yes, a UK plated Skoda whose driver was texting his carer probably.

A quick praise for the hotel we stayed at last night in Verdun.
Quiet, out of the way on the very edge of town (so not really walkable anywhere) but very friendly, a good pool ! And the food was yet again absolutely top notch with a great wine selection.
Room had no aircon but they had put two fans in there as the weather was so warm.
I would 100% use again.
