Deteriorating grips

Have any of you riders out there had problems with your rubber hand grips deteriorating? I rode my bike into Las Vegas Nevada and the desert heat has made the grips feel tacky all the time. After a ride there will be a black rubber stripe left along my hands.

Are there any good aftermarket grips that you guys recommend that withstand constant 40C heat. I also have the heated hand grips for winter. I have not had any issues with the heaters through out the year, just the past month since I arrived in Nevada.

There was a posting a while back about how somebody had wrapped something around their grips with good results, I think it was like tennis racquet hand grip tape or similar.
