I have a German friend coming over this weekend. We are staying near Okehampton on Friday night and near Exeter on Saturday. Any suggestions where to go for a nice days ride? I was wondering whether to ride over to Tintagel and then up to Exmoor. Any recommended roads or better suggestions?

Can recommend a ride across the moor... coming from okehampton follow the road through sticklepath and signs to moretonhapmstead... from there you can pick up the moorland or continue to bovey tracey and follow signs to haytor... ride around for a few hours then boot er to doddiscomsley (sp!?) for diner at the nobody inn... they start service at half six... good little pub, they have rooms and a full whisky list.

Yes done that many times. Was thinkingabout going across there, on to Tintagel and then up the 39, round Exmoor and then down to Exeter. Would that make a decent day's ride?

SOUnds like a plan... I'd avoid the m5 on the way home and scoot from barnstaple to crediton via the old road.. can't remember the name of it but it goes past rosemore gardens.

Make sure you do Porlock Hill, both ways !

Linmouth to Taunton is a nice ride

If you must do Porlock Hill, go up it and come back down via the Toll Road which is far more spectacular.
