Difference between Garmin 2610 & 2620?

besides how do i read a gps computer unit at high speed or whilst cornering hard? turn left, continue 100 yards...yes yes ok.. not for me..

Written by someone who definitely has never even tried a GPS.:blast Most instructions are given way in advance of any turn off.So therefore instructions should be understood befroe any "cornering hard" comes into play.

.whack 'necrophagia' on the ipod and blaze a trail into the sunset...[/

I think the 2620 has a hard drive or micro drive which is pre loaded with the maps. The built in drive is susceptible to failing because of vibration from motorcycles. The 2610 doesn't have this problem as all the mapping is stored on a CF card. Both models have been discontinued.

Some of the early production 2620 GPSRs had tiny microdrives in them. These can be made entirely suitable for a motorcycle by simply opening the door on the side of the device, removing the microdrive, and installing in its place a 1 or 2 gig flash memory card. These memory cards are quite inexpensive - they are not of proprietary design, they are generic.

Later production 2620s contained solid-state flash memory. If my own memory (that which is between my ears) serves me correctly, I think that the later production 2620s with the solid state flash memory did not have a flap (a door) on the end of them... however, I am not 100% sure about that. In any case, just open the door (if there is one) and see what is inside it - a microdrive or a flash card. If there is no door, you can be assured there is flash memory in it.
