Stahlkoffer do a good set, very reasonably priced. Simple fixing to the bike, very well made; on here as Berndt51, and yes I bought a set, just to make my GSA look different.

personally the tin box option it the best in terms of usability ive got the jesse bags fitted to my 1150 and the also look rather fetching on the 1200s
We had the Vario luggage on the previous bike and it was pants in terms of getting anything in it using the liners. OH's new adventure has the tin luggage and the bespoke liner bags. So far we have managed to do 3 weeks away with only his luggage - and I am a girl who packs hairdrier, straightners, 3 weeks worth of toiletries, several pairs of shoes and outfits just like I would in the car. Nothing was creased and we had room to spare including taking spare bike kit (other than helmets) each.
The inner bags are easy to carry (and waterproof) which is important if you have helmet, bags and handbag when you are checking in to your hotel.
And they look really stylish - bike bling.
The downside is if you are doing any serious travelling with a pillion then you need to think seriously about some sort of different back box as the metal one pushes you forward and digs in your back. Fine for a quick run to the shops or restaurant if your pillion wants a glass of wine but not great for long distances
I'm with the anti Vario brigade. Poor capacity, stiff mechanism, side opening means stuff falls out and it's hard to use full capacity without using inner bags. Oh and the left one is about as much use as the glove box on my car. Another snag we found when hotel touring was that going back to the bike parked on Italian streets overnight found bikes parked so tight either side that we either had to take the panniers off or move the bike into traffic as we had no room to open the lids.
After one trip I sold them and bought Zegas. Great capacity, easy to load, nothing falls out, easy to tie stuff on top, can be used as tables/chairs, a lot lighter and no problems with adjacent bikes stopping me opening them.
Also found mine acted as pretty good rear crash bars on low speed drops without too much damage and the removable lids have been really useful as I can easily carry items that are too long to go inside without resorting to bungees.
Now have GSA with standard tin boxes. Advantage over Zegas is that the lids are hinged for easy loading but can still be removed for long stuff. also when heavy stuff is tied to lid I can take it right off for pannier access rather than have load hanging on hinge. Many other options around but would not fit any that don't have removable lids.
Only downside with Zegas and GSA is the bare ali takes a lot of work to keep looking reasonable. With the Zegas I finally gave up and let them take on an overall corroded look. I guess that one more winter and the GSA boxes will go the same way. The GSAs are a lot thinner than the Zegas and have plastic edges rather than solid ali so I don't think they would fare so well as Zega if used as crash bars.
For inners I originally had the TT Zega inners which were cheap and crap. Then bought Kriegas which I still use in the GSA boxes. Expensive but like all Kriega kit they are very well made and designed and look pretty smart for hotel use.
