Hi there, I'm looking for some tyre advice. I have a part worn Anakee 3 in the garage and wondered if its ok to use that with a road pilot 4 that's on the front of my r1200gs lc , or is that a bad idea mixing tyres ??
Thanks in advance for your wisdom

No problem mixing brands

Stick go play being a Morris Dancer !

Some bikes are more sensitive to different tyre's and their profiles.

Why go looking for additional problems ?

Silly thing to contemplate on a motorcycle - different construction / profiles / compounds = different characteristics, get your wallet out - it may save your neck

So massively expensive bike (s) are released with x tyres...and the first thing people do is change the tyres cos the originals are shit (even after 6 miles exploring) for completely different tyre brands and suddenly the bike is awesome...Now, obs the company releasing the bike have actually tested the bike ON SAID TYRES but bods are perfectly allowed to change tyres etc....and here you are moaning about mixing brands....same thing really. I guess there is always the bike manufacturers tyre pressures to follow as opposed to the tyre manufacturers guidance...cant see a fault with different tyres. Again, if anything, one will handle better on acceleration, the other on braking, and vice versa of course if you're riding properly..

Problem is that since manufacturer test bike and agree which tyres (cheapest they can get away with).

Tyre manufacturer brings out new/updated tyres, which have slightly different profiles, sipes, or are now dual/triple compound. Then there's the tyre pressures, who do you listen too ? Manufacturer, bike dealer, mate across the road ? Perhaps you can contact the tyre manufacturer, most have a technical department, who in my experience are friendly, helpful and have more up to date knowledge.

Just put on a set roadtec 01's and send me a thank you letter, best road tyre I have ever used.
If you must be mean the combo will be OK just don't expect the AnkIII's to behave like a PR4.

Thanks for all the replies, i should have mentioned its only for a few days till my tyre fitter friend returns from holidays and fits my new pilot road , but a varied response all the same

I had Road Attacks on my 1150 a few years ago two up in France when the rear, which I thought would last the trip, didn't. The only tyre the dealer had in the right size was a Michelin. Had no adverse affect whatsoever.

best road tyre I have ever used.

Best tyre I have ever used was round and had some rubber compound on a newish carcass construction. What else are you going to fit but new tyres after riding around on used one's.

shite send by my phone when I'm not looking
