Discounts on LC GS

This has got to be a troll. I can't believe you guys are feeding this one

Every model, every time :blast

"seem to be struggling for orders"

Yah ok.

My mate down the pub told me his brother's hairdresser knows a guy from BMW HQ, and he said they are about to go bust......so let's start a thread about that shall we? :blast

Ok, lets take a bit of a reality check on this one. There are a number of users of this site who have already put deposits on wc GSs. Now that prices have been announced I'm sure they would have been in talks with the dealers to find out how much they will be paying. Lets hear how big these discounts are in the real world.

I have ordered the GS TE which is fully loaded and retails at around £13800, so take off 20% vat and 10%. I am buying from a UK dealer in the south. I do not believe it is fair to disclose but as I said all 5 dealers I contacted offered a deal.

I do have the time and put the effort into buying, you have to be a real punter and not a time waster to get an offer.

Interestingly, when I bought my K1600, one dealer who is on a BMW car site openly said he would not discount because he judged he would sell his allocation. Times have changed, demand is weak.....reality is survival and flexibility......recreational cash is tight.....we can put off buying a new bike!

So the actual discount is about 10% off retail.

So are they giving VAT free offers

So Target price for a GS TE around 12400 otr ??:beerjug: I think that is a good deal:D

Not sure I understand your question but all dealer margins are excluding vat so all deals are based on vat free numbers thus vat is applied to eventual invoice price .

So £1150 off list (£12650 inc VAT)?

That's about right. Although on the road costs at £355 are never discounted which includes delivery, tax and pdi.

Ok, so £12680.:thumb Did they do any deals on accessories on top of that, or are they full price?

If you're P/Xing your existing bike the only price which should be of any interest is the price to swap.
You need to work out how you value your existing bike and what you are prepared to pay for your new bike, take the former from the latter and that's where your negotiations should start,if the price to swap is the same or less than your original estimation then you have a deal, if not you don't.

Ok I see where you are calculating from

For a minute I thought you were including the VAT in your discount calculations.

I understand your approach but I prefer to see each transaction as separate. I may not or may trade in but I do understand the cost to change drives many punters.

whenever i see discounts advertised on cars they are off list price or otr price, so here we are talking about vat free discount achieved, talk about how to over complicating things i think you have re-invented the rules.

Imo you havent got 10 percent off you've got less, as the amount should be relative to the full otr purchase price you would have to have paid.

Fine if that is your way of looking at it, no problem.

For me vat is a fixed percentage that reduces in aggregate as the discount increases so I just like to see it reduce!
