display help for a newbie??

i've just bought a 2001 f650gs (my first one)but it has problems... it's going back next week but before it does can someone please confirm the dash display with ignition on before start up?? i believe the fuel, neutral and oil light should be on but once started fuel and oil light should go out (assuming they levels are correct)?? at present it displays temp and neutral lights only, fuel light not connected, i've checked!!! speedo stopped working too but i've done a search and believe this could be water in the connection, is this a common problem??
many thanks for any help or suggestions, as it should be sorted under warranty it would be nice to know what should be displayed so i'm armed with fact when it goes back!!
i'm in warminster, wiltshire so on the off chance anyone's local and wants to show theirs that would be good too!!

Welcome to the forum.

Oil and fuel come on and go off after a second or so, neutral stays on. Might be a simple fix - have you checked the fuses and dash bulbs?

thanks mate, i've got a feeling the temp and oil bulbs have been put in the wrong way round which yes is an easy fix, as for the fuel light , the wire has been pulled from the holder and taped up. as it's under a 6 month warranty (only had it 4 days!) i reckon they should put it right!
