The engine on my April 2024 1250GSA started squeaking at idle and up to about 2,000rpm following the first service in May. It's coming from the front of the engine, but get above 2,000rpm and the noise abruptly stops. The best way I can describe it is it's like the rapid pulsing squeak of waterpump on a car which is about to fail...and it has become louder now that I have over 3,000 miles on the clock.

It's been into John Clark Motorrad in Aberdeen twice and I have very politely been told 'they all do this sir and you can listen to them in the showroom'. This is my third 1250 and I never had this noise on the other two, or this one until after the first service. My wife can now hear it from the pillion seat whilst she is wearing ear plugs.

Any thoughts welcome, including that I might have had selective hearing on the other two. Thanks in advance.

I haven't noticed it on mine, but maybe I haven't been paying attention. I'll have a listen next time I fire it up.

Is it noticeable on a recording?

I’m working away at the moment but will try to record it at the weekend. I should have said it is a pulsing squeak (not a continuous noise) about 3-4 times a second at idle which increases with revs and suddenly stops totally at as the revs increase

3-4 times a second sounds way lower than engine or even cam speed, does pulling the clutch have any effect on the sound?

5400miles on my 73 plate 1250 GSA and no squeaking as you describe on mine.

I'd go back to the garage and ask them to demonstrate it on one of their showroom bikes.

Mine doesn't squeak at all.

I know that some 2024 1250's seem to have a whistle which picks up with revs and becomes a little more prominent (or has, in the case of the RT's I've ridden) after running in. We've been told by BMW that this is due to some induction changes and is normal. There ought to be no mechanical squeaks though, so that being the case, I'd have them check it, especially as it didn't do it when you first had it.
