Drive Spline Greasing

As a reminder, this is where we left it.

Posted by Onahi "Its nothing personal. It simply doesn't happen. Its a complete manufactured hyped up story. Like I've said, If it makes you feel better greasing them, then crack on, but Jeeez, stop the persistant bull sh it threads on it."

If you want this thread to go away, leave everyone to get on with it. A yes it is, no it isn't argument doesn't last long if there is only one side. Neither side is going to change their minds.
I am sure it will come up again............

If we closed every thread that followed that path, there would be nothing on here!

I did the shaft spline re-grease on my 1250 (front and rear) with Rocol moly paste, both splines had a tiny residue of what looked like Starburags, resealed the gaiter with Starburags, drilled and tapped a drain hole in the lower cup section of the swing arm (that can hold water if any gets in in through over zealous power washing) as the guy called SAFICOM on the You Tube video entitled.....
'BMW R1250 R1200 driveshaft rust fix'.
Have a look on You Tube, maybe someone knows how to put a link on here for the benefit of others, mine has been fine since, I will probably look at at again over the winter months.

Totally agree with BobT :blast

Just had a look at mine, 2016 bike, was like new, painted yolks and greased from the factory

Didn’t need anything doing so I just put a bit of extra grease on the splines

Guess i was lucky, the UJ popped off easily and I could get my fingers in no problem to ligne it up with the splines when I lifted the FD back up, easy peasy :thumb2

I also changed the brake pads whilst it was apart

Once greased is there any reason to worry about it again?

Well, you have changed oil in your engine and final drive. Do you think you need to change it ever again?

The splines are not quite as complicated as the engine.
