Bit of advice required

long story short... I've been asked to fix so friend of a friends bike (1150R)

the idiot decided to wire a sat nav in with a live from the battery and an earth
to the frame, he then decides to join the 2 together:rolleyes:
The wire goes bright red and a pop noise
bike won't start, I've been through all the usual. I've then borrowed a mates
ecu from an 1150 adventure and it starts first time.
im going to replace the ECU. Can I use a GS one .. Seems logical as they are same motor
or can I get it fixed ??

cheers in advance

Depends on the ECU part no.

For example:-
Part 13617658618 (Control unit, Motronic, Double-Ignition) was found on the following vehicles:

259S R 1100 S 98 (0422,0432) N/A, Europe
R21 R 1150 GS 00 (0415,0495) N/A, Europe
R21A R 1150 Adventure 01(0441,0492) N/A, Europe
R22 R 1150 RS 01 (0447,0498) N/A, Europe
R22 R 1150 RT 00 (0419,0499) N/A, Europe
R28 R 1150 R 01 (0429,0439) N/A, Europe
R28 R 1150 R Rockster (0308,0318) N/A, Europe

So you will need the original R1150R ECU part no to be really sure.

Code on box is 0 261 206 173 810408706 1736 1352

Or 7 655 474
Not sure which

None of those numbers make any sense, that I can fathom.

You never stated the year and whether it is a single spark, or twin spark.

This is the ECU for the single spark. Post 2 list the twin spark.

Part 13617658614 (CONTROL UNIT MOTRONIC) was found on the following vehicles:

R21 R 1150 GS 00 (0415,0495) N/A, Europe
R21A R 1150 Adventure 01(0441,0492) N/A, Europe
R22 R 1150 RS 01 (0447,0498) N/A, Europe
R22 R 1150 RT 00 (0419,0499) N/A, Europe
R28 R 1150 R 01 (0429,0439) N/A, Europe
