EEE PC 900 Portable Solid State Laptop

Garmin Mobile Pc and eeepc

Use mine mounted in topbox running Mobile PC and a Globalsat gps receiver
Obviously I only have sound only directions through earplugs but the full text to sound voice directions of the software works well
It is also great for Internet and skype when abroad
Have Mapsource and various other programs running so its a really good all round device

I used my 701 on all my trips last year.....
Just the job when you have a change of plan on the road :augie

I've just got the Eee1000H. Got rid of most of the apps on it, decluttered Windows and added a few essential apps and we're off and running.

Now I need to find a decent, compact and tough travel bag for it, most look like they'd last 5 mins in a pannier.

I went same route got myself a eee pc 1000H realised the hard drive was far to smale so upgraded it to a 300GB and upped the RAM to 2GB does everything i need it to do and some, other laptop is a Alien with a 45min battery life, not so portable, went for the 1000H mainly due to the 7 hour claim battery life, in reality get about 5.5 - 6. couldnt recommend it enough, bought a great cover for it off Amazon.

Daft question because I don't know much about computers -

I really like the idea of one of these smaller laptops and was wondering, how do the pages of sites like this appear on these small screens?
Do you always have to scroll across to see the full page or does it all fit in ok?

My Samsung NC10 (10.4" screen) is fine for browsing this site but all that 'value-add' :augie at the top does take up a chunk of screen real estate. I tend to toggle on and off the browser menus (press F11) to overcome this, horizontally speaking I don't have a problem.

Don't keep us in suspense - the best I have found is £330'ish

I've just ordered one for my sons birthday (to keep him off my Assus eepc):blast

The cheapest I could find was Dixons using the 2 discount codes NET5 and SALE25 which brought it down to £287 delivered

Follow this link then click on Samsung Netbooks.

http://www.dixons.co.uk/martprd/edi...ardware/?int=hp-topnav-computers-laptops-pdas

Choose your colour then click buy. Once on the next screen add the codes pressing the update after each code and it should bring it down to £287 with free p&p Depending which way you navigate the site it seems quirky and adds Anti virus bundle or doesn't accept the codes however if you follow the above it seems to work with all colours so my lad has a Blue for boys one on its way:)

PS I still want to know where you can get them for £240:tears

That is a great tip isn't it - I learnt another one yesterday from Clive which is to hit the Windows key and D to go to your desktop at any time. I recon we should have a sticky in the computer section for handy tips like these:rob

press Esc and it stops the animations dead in its tracks

Windows + E takes you to Explorer :comfort

got mine from DABS.com but IU dont pay the VAT (yipee)

Noiw at £267 to anyone but I have a trade account :augie

The mrs has an Acer one which is a lot lighter and a bit smaller but its lighter because its only a three cell battery (2 hours life)

The NC 10 really is a great piece of kit and runs Mapsource with ease !!

The only issue I have with the 10 inch screens is that the resolution cannot be made really small to get some full web pages on but I can live with that
