Just bought a 2007 GSA and have taken my Autocom and Garmin Zumo 550 off my old bike.

My question is, can I just wire the Autocom directly to the battery terminals on the GSA like I did on the old bike? I cut into the positive lead and put a bullet connector into it so that I could just unplug it at the bullet to stop battery drain when it was mounted to my Fireblade. I just wondered if I could do the same on the GSA.

Also if I can do this I will have to disconnect the battery which I assume will set the bike alarm off.......how do I stop it from activating or turn it off when it does to stop annoying the neighbours and then reset it when it is all connected up again. It's a BMW alarm by the way.

Sorry its longwinded but I have no technical acumen whatsoever.

Thanks in advance.

The accessory socket is the right source for the Autocom. Personally I am happy to have the Zumo wired directly onto the battery since power is always on and the unit is charging if in its cradle. Alternatively wire into the loom as per the link.

Bit of a late reply but I wired both the Zumo and the Autocom onto the BMW GPS accessory plug that connects into the canbus loop by the front forks. Then both the Zumo and Autocom power up together which I am told is a better option for the Bluetooth and Phone functions on the zumo.
Speak to Rich (here as GSrich) at Autocom. He will give you the pos and cons of all the options.
