hi mate.
yes its possible to order with normal tyres. I have the enduro gearbox on my 2010 gsa and i must say its fantastic in and around town and in heavy traffic. cant say i noticed and different between first and second gear. good luck.
Yes, did that with my september 2010 GSA30, came with Tourance EXP's instead of TKC's as I was doing more road stuff and less gravel.
If anything i'd have preferred first gear to be even lower. It's great with a pillion and full luggage but still a wee bit higher than i'd like on the low speed technical stuff. Then again it's a GSA not a Sherco.....!
My friend was interested to see how much difference there was between the 'norma'l and 'low' first gear so we rode side by side in the ASDA carpark at tickover and sure enough my bike was a good bit slower than his.
Who give a f*ck? Does it matter? Tyres are consumables. Consider the total cost of ownership and this makes f*ck all difference.
Whats more important is you get the right gearbox, which is prohibitively expensive to change afterwards. I'd say go for Enduro gearbox as it makes filtering / riding in heavy traffic so much easier, let alone the off road benefits.

Cheers guys, put a deposit on a new yellow adventure with all the options but forgot to mention the enduro gearbox. I'll need to ask the salesman if it has it or not
Would be handy if it has it tho

Bollox. They grip well, but do take some getting used to. Quite a few folks run them all time.
Anyway if you dont like the TKC's, take them off, replace them and sell them. A pair of TKCs are over £200 now. You'll get £140 minimum for a pair with a few miles on them. Think about the total cost of ownership of the bike - how much would it cost compared to this?
Honestly why do folks get hung up on £60-£70 when buying a £13,000+ vehicle which is going to depreciate and cost money to service and fuel.
You are quibbling over about 1.5 - 2 tanks of fuel !
£60-70 is still £60-70, whatever you're spending
You look at how easy it is to save the £60-70 and then decide if it's worth the effort
Asking "please can it have road tyres on?" seems a relatively easy way to save a few quid you could give to a deserving charity if you don't want it.
As an aside, it seems weird to me that some people get so wound up about what's on these threads - there must be a lot of stress out there!
