I've just had my R80 Mono outfit gearbox rebuilt by Mikeyboy. It's come back looking like a brand new one. So, I now need to clean the engine up so it at least gets close to looking clean.

Therefore, I've been looking for a cleaner that will get the ali back to it's original look and I've come across 'Frost Ali Clean' Looks to be a sort of acid of caustic/gloves and goggles type cleaner. Has anyone got any experience with this stuff? Or other recommendations???

Don’t. You’ll not be able to match the finish without vapour blasting it. Wait for the gearbox to get dirty.

Or use wd40 and a thick nylon bristle washing up brush.

I do have a vapour blasted engine case and crank if you want …

Yeh, probably the easiest method, which I might well go with ultimately. Changing the engine covers isn't a option really, as the front mounting rod is seized in place. I'm also not doing much more than a refurb, so was jut thinking of making things look a little more alike.

You could try 'Rub n Buff' in pewter if it's a tidy up. It's a wax finish. You brush it on with a toothbrush of similar, then buff with a cloth. I had a badly discoloured gearbox that came up a treat.
