engine failed to start / warning on RID?

Hi guys, last week I started my 12GS here at work, as I do every other day and the engine turned over, and over and over. It would not fire. I turned the key off and on and tried again, same thing, engine turned over normally but would not fire. I at first suspected some work buddies were playing a trick on me and pulled the plug leads off, but this was not the case. I tried this a few times and then it spluttered and started up. It may have been my imagination but the engine felt sluggish, throtlle response lag (for lack of a better word) and just didn't feel right afterwards. On the RID was a warning indicator and a pic of I assume to be the engine? It stayed like this for a few days afterwards, I just did not have the opportunity to take it in for a checkup at my local BMW shop. And then one day it was gone and all was ok again? Any ideas what happened?

I have 19 600km's on the clock so it's due for a service and will get them to check the computer brain for any possible errors.

I'll update this thread if anyone is interested when I know more.
