In theory a good and simple way to increase power and torque is to increase the compression ratio.

What is the forum experience with the several available kits?

First question:
What engine modification did you do? (pistons, camshaft, valves, …….)

Second question:
Is it worth it?

Third question:
For the same kind of driving and in the same route will the fuel consumption increase?

I’m thinking in getting a use engine block (BTW: does any one as one that wants to get ride of?) and rebuilt it as a winter project.
I don’t want less reliability or a big fuel increase I just want an engine that I know inside out.

What I did

my bike was a 800 so first thing was a Siebenrock conversion. While working on the motor I did a mild head flowing job by myself - no flowbench etc but just going over the manifolds, smoothong everything, checking against steps in the flow etc. I use multiuse K&N filter in original airbox, a little opened up so there will be no restriction.
Downstream I have 2 to 1 manifold from Germany, I think by Sachs, and an opened up exhaust can by Lazer.

All this specialy the exhaust system made it absolutely necessary to change jetting quite substantialy. I dont recall the numbers now, but both needle placement and mains are changed.

The result is a sweet motor, very nice throttle response (not in the leage of the Dellortos in my Guzzi LeMans, though), nice and satisfying midrange torque. Some of the original low range torque was lost, but repayed big dividends beyond 4000rpm.
Not a shy machine though - became a loud beast. not so it becomes a public enemy but nothing reminding traditional airhead boxers...

Hello

Thanks for all the replays.

I want an off road engine so low end torque is a must.

Any comments on Siebenrock kits?

I wasnt clear enough...

with the Siebenrock kit the motor became a gem of a torque mill. Puting the 2 to 1 manifold when the balance box rotted took some of the realy low end torque away giving a lot more power up - but even in this config the motor is much torquier than what the 800 was!!
