Engine Number

Can anyone tell me where I can find the engine number on my 1989 K75S. I want to get it registered here again now that I am living full time in the UK. I had a quick look and it's not obvious where it might be. Can someone save me a lot of time by pointing me in the right direction.

Nobody got any ideas, I've not even had the usual sort of answer, you know, "Try looking on the engine" that sort of thing. The bike is in storage so I don't want to go and strip it down unless I know where I should be looking. And yes, I have looked on those parts of the engine I can see without dismantling anything.

Mine has gone so I can't check it -is it only the frame number that's on the headstock?

I wish I had a brain! Just done so and it and one site says it is low down on the L/H side of the crankcase, another says somewhere under the alternator! I did think we might have an expert on here who could give an answer I can trust.

Look at the oil level window, the number is stamped vertically into the black sump housing about 150mm rear of the window, same level.

Perfect! I had to wipe the casing to see it but there it is, Thanks
