15/50 semi synthetic in all bikes now - no more Power 1 full syntheticapart from K1200/1300 and S1000RR which remains at 5/40
Didn't that Charley Watsisname run a Honda Cub on used fish'n'chip oil successfully before chucking it off the top of a multistory block of flats?
If chip fat is good enough for the most successful bike in history then it's good enough for a fuggin old Beemer
Mind you, I'd play safe and use Extra Virgin Olive oil, not any old beef dripping.

As I've just sold my GSA with a massive 315 miles on the clock I'm unsure what oil to run it on now?
(I'll never see the bike again and someone else will be paying for the oil anyway so should I really be worrying?)

This is a rather bold and forthright statement and I really want believe that this question has been simplified as proclaimed. It may be more convincing if it was supported by elaboration/explanation/evidence or source.15/50 semi synthetic in all bikes now - no more Power 1 full syntheticapart from K1200/1300 and S1000RR which remains at 5/40

Soooo. You never actaully got it run in after all. So I take it you have plumped for the Honda 90 step through then? Remember to thrash the tits of it from the off it will pay dividends in the end!
Thanks for that - it would appear then that he posts authoritatively, and reflects BMW latest policy. Be interesting to see if all dealerships follow suit. But then how would I ever find that out and does it really matter? Therefore strike that, it's not interesting at all.Skywalker works for a well known and respected bmw main dealer, and is himself a highly regarded mechanic/technician in the dealer network.

He he, no but it was by the book and it may yet come back to me (its a commission sale)
I'm diverting the funds to a once in a lifetime camper van purchase. I will certainly return to a 12 GS in the next twelve to fifteen months (when my savings have recovered) but whether it's a hex or a watercooled remains to be seen!
I currently ride an r100r daily and it is so good at its job (apart from the 40mpg) it made the GSA rather redundant. Of course I'll miss it but it will be "the year of the campervan" this year and I'm pretty excited at that prospect.
