hello

has anyone ever had the engine re-mapped on their 1200gs? if so what have been the advantages/disadvantages? and where did you have it done?

thanks!

Hi Dave

I own a GSA1200 and have been thinking of a remap device cause I've changed my exhaust system throughout and although it has improved performance and exhaust tone, it now has a few slight flat spots as you rev through the rev range when accelerating hard. Just recently bought a Buell XB12SS and did the same - that too had a flat spot since changing to a better exhaust. Fitted a Remus Powerizer and performance air filter in it and resulted in more power and no flat spot. Don't know if there is something similar for the GSA though? Power Commander has been mentioned previously but I got the impression it was for other bikes? At the Oceon BMW in Plymouth one of the bike mechanics fitted a remap device to effect fuelling with a K&N air filter, says it flies now - though I've only seen him ride away!

Powrer Commander on R1200GS

A mate of mine had a Power Commander fitted to his 1200GS a few months ago and the bike set up on a dyno at the same time (N London)
He is totally sold on the improvement to the engine running and strongly recommends it. Improvements were principally to smooth out the slow speed running (25-40mph) and pick up and overall better & smoother acceleration I believe.

#1 with the powerizer on the buell, don't list one for bmw1200's though, have you removed your buells intake snorkle and drilled the inner air box yet?that makes a big gain as does taking the breathers to a catch can,as for the gs-wait and get a powercommander v with autotune
