Hey,

I bought a 2004, 1200 GS in january. Love the bike, and I'm quicker on it than I was on the 2002 Blade (More to do with my ability than the bikes.)

The GS had an aftermarket exhaust on prior to my purchase, and due to it's condtion it was replaced with a standard can. Again, prior to my purchase. Anyhoo, at around 3,000 - 3,500 revs, it is juddery. That is keeping the throttle at a steady pace. Namely, at 30 / 40 mph in the right gears it is. Accelorating or decelorating, is no porblem. I was wondering if this was just a 'general' thing or if it's likely to do with the previous can's set-up..

The '04 bikes did have a bit of a flat spot around those revs which could be partly cured with a software update to the fuelling map. May be worth asking the dealer if yours has the latest map?

They will not be as smooth at low speeds as a blade, but you get used
to it after a while.

A different kettle of fish

It will be difficult to get used to the quirks of a Boxer after a Fireblade but it is worth it- nevertheless it should go on to the dealer's computer to verify the set up;

But then, when would you use a 'blade at 2000-4000rpm.....? No torque and f-all power. Anything above that and the GS should, if properly set up, be as smooth as a turbine.
