Hello

How should the bottom end of the engine sump be if you are using an engine guard?
Should the oil sump be different from the std?

Is there any oil sump without the fins to able the engine guard to be assemble a bit higher?

(r100gs)

My 93 GS has a small flat bottomed sump with holes for the sump cover.

The cover is too close to the sump and restricts cooling, and as it is fixed to the sump it doest seem to give much protection, rather it concentrates any impact on a couple of 6mm bolts.

I have removed both sump and cover and fitted the biggest BMW sump, which is solid thing with large external fins.
The bike runs cooler this way and IMHO the finned sump will cope better with any impact than the flat bottomed GS sump with its silly little guard.
