.epl file problem

Hi all

Got a problem with one of my engraving machine's software (JLS), any logos i draw in a drawing package are exported to JLS as a .plt file, these, when used on a job are stored in an .epl file (a library I think) I have learnt ( the bad way) that these libraries have a maximum size, having just added the proverbial straw that broke the camels back, the JLS software will not allow editing of the now, too large, epl file, it does not even list the library file, if I try and reload the file the software just chucks the teddy out and freezes.

I use windoze 98

Any ideas?

It looks as though it might be an SQL file ( source ) so it should be readable with text editor.

You would then need (someone with) a little SQLK knowledge to tidy it up and try a recovery.

Hi Iain, thanks for that, i came across the same site but did'nt understand a word of it (i think ive got a compter version of dyslexia) I need something simple to try, do you think its worth contacting the local IT sharks to see if they can help!

but where is local for a man whose location is on t'cut - sounds a bit m,oveable to me, albeit not very fast.

Try opening (a copy of) the file with a text editor likeTextpad and delete everything after the last semicolon?

Remember to save the edited file with a new name and the .epl extension

Yes, home is slowly movable (K&A/Thames area) but work is certainly landlocked (Basingstoke)

How do you get a GS on/off a narrowboat then, always struck me as rather an incompatible arrangement given the size, not to mention the weight, of a GS

Hi Shugie,

I never carry the gs on the boat, I just juggle van, boat & bike when needed, the logistics are no harder than sorting pumpouts, diesel, fresh water etc.

It all seems a problem at the start, then you just fall into a routine to suit, no problem!

I see you list narrow boats as a hobby, do you have one?
