Does your ESA move smoothly when you change settings. Particularly between big mountains and single rider mode my front adjusts in big “steps” rather than smoothly.

Can anyone shed any light on what it should be doing and whether this is normal?

My ‘08 GSA has always done the same both on the original ESA and WESA suspension. Normal.

Mine is super smooth, no steps/staggering/stuttering.

Maybe time for a service? Or try spraying (ACF50 perhaps) up around the top of the springs - maybe they're just bone dry and even a little corroded?

Smooth increase/decrease on the rear unit but the front pops up or drops down in relatively large steps so if it's the front you're talking about, fine. If it's the back, its probably faked....

Cheers all. The rear is smooth it’s the front that pops or drops depending on direction.

From the sounds of it it’s probably fine!

Mine does the same. Worked perfectly in France recently. Sport and hard damping for the twisties, off road and soft for the TET routes.

Don't use ACF50 as a lubricant, it's an Anti Corrosion Fluid hence the name. It basically dries to a wax finish to stop water and or air onto what ever it's coating. It's very good at doing that but it's not a lubricant. Use a good quality oil.

Stiction, can be normal, but not sure for esa

That’s alright. I can confirm my ESA is now very broken however it did seem to function fine with the “stepping” having distinct changes in feel on the different settings before it’s smashing incident last weekend.
