Does your EWS LCD indicor light come on momentarily when you first start your bike (mine does not have a factory fitted alarm)? Not sure if this is normal on a HP2 - sure is not on a normal 1200 and I shit myself everytime I see it but as soon as the bike has finished its check its gone.

I'll go and have a look need to pop down the shops anyway hang on

right back:augie

editted....

mine goes red checking yellow and then green starts and nothing about EWS only time from memory I ahd that was when the battery was near flat

hope that helps?

Was curious enough to walk down to the shop now to get a Coke, slip the key into the HP2 ignition....switch it on and.....

Please come back here next week for the next episode :D

Ok OK

EWS comes on
Lights come on

and then all is fine. If memory serves me correct it does this sequence from day one on mine and never had any problems. I think Lo-IQ is broken :augie :beerjug:

Most owners don't notice - their eyes are closed praying it'll start :D

that's about the truth of it, going out again will have another look closer look....:blast

here come the pictures considering my Hp has just been rebuilt by BMW at someones expense it should be right....

1 ignition on
2 self check 1
3 self check 2
4 engine started and running hence it's all wobbly and you can see the headlight is on
5 how hot the inside of my car got last week:thumb2

it does prove one thing I did think the light goes green but it turns out it's only the neutral light that stay on.

Also I must remember now they've fixed the side stand switch to fix it again...:augie

low IQ - what no EWS flashes up? Strange as Mav confirms that his does it like mine as it cycles the check sequence. Maybe yours has an alarm fitted?

no alarm no nothing but they did something when I had it rebuilt cos I broke it bad....:augie

do you indicators auto cancel? cos mine do now they never did before....

Yes my indicators auto cancel after probably 30 seconds never actually checked and only over a certain speed (70mph +) I think  Never knew it did this until I overtook a car one day and after a while thought better put the indicator off and it was already off :D

Mine definitely comes on with the EWS as part of the startup cycle

oh well there you go....:blast I'll ask the matey at the dealers what they did

Checked on my way home tonight.

Whilst the bike is moving, if you leave the indicator on it will switch off after 15 blinks :D

If you stand still it will keep on blinking, not sure how it knows that :nenau

Try it :blast

I get the EWS on start check aswell and my indicators auto cancel and the sidestand switch is faulty but not all the time! My hazard lights work aswell.

FP.:thumb

Well that answers that one! :D I am though not sure I will ever get over the rise in hearbeat when I see the dreaded display of thos three letters ... anyone who has had another 1200 which does not cycle up this way (most others in fact as far as I know) and knows about the EWS failures will understand. :blast

have you had the ews sensor recall done?
The aerial ring needs replacing before it goes kaputt!

I carry a spare my tech 'put in the topbox' of my ADV when the recall was done. My HP2 is out of warranty so am guessing they will not do the EWS recall on it? Or will they?

yes they will do any reacalls out of warranty, they usually carry these out when you get a service.
