Exclusive model

i ordered a 17 bike. Only because I would never buy the first year of any bike. Second year gets all the upgrades and problems ironed out, and thats when I will be hopefully ready for a change again :)

look at ht e 13 bike when it came out, gearboxes, no steering damper, head shakes etc etc.
14 bike got all the fixes and retrofits..

if your waiting, wait for a 19 bike not 18 if there are dramatic changes.

I still plan to get mine in July when mine is 2 yrs old, if there is a new model for 2018 it won't be out until Spring 18 and as said the first models often have problems like my 13 plate model!

Shame they don't develop the things properly in the first place instead of letting the customers do it for them

Test rode the Exclusive model yesterday. They have really sorted the throttle response, it was so smooth, it made my 2015 TE seem very jerky.
GSAP was a tad smoother but the ESA during riding didn't feel any different.
Setting the ESA preload to 'Min was probably the same as mine for one rider. 'Auto' I would say was the same as rider plus luggage.

The self levelling was really weird, on hard breaking there was no movement to the bike or my position which really isolates you from what the bike is doing. I'm sure you would get used to it but it also takes even more feedback to the rider.

Overall the bike was impressive, not a magic carpet ride from the suspension but really smooth.

I also tested a '66' plate TE with lowered chassis. Thought the suspension was really hard and it didn't suit me at all. The throttle response was better than mine but not as smooth as the 'Exclusive.

After that I went and tested a Triumph Tiger 800 XRT!

The front suspension is designed to be anti dive. I don't think auto levelling had anything to do with your experience. The levelling only works on the rear suspension as there is no preload adjustment on the front, only damping.

Wonder what you thought of the XRT? Had originally wanted something lighter this year but in the end loved the GS too much.

I stand corrected on the front dive!

I quite liked the XRT. I will be testing it again with the missus on the back. I don't think it would be under powered for two-up just want to see how it handles.

I've had 4 x 1200gs's now and quite like the idea of lighter & lower do it all bike. Which for the lower part why I tested the lower chassis GS.

Glad you had good experiences with it. . Im also on the ktmfirum as i have one as well, you should join it before going to the orange side, not all rosie trouble free bikes either
