has anyone seen a full test/review for the 700 yet (other than the MCN comparison) cant seem to find one (on Google anyway)

There is a fairly short review of the F700 and 2013 F800 in the latest issue of Bike. First I have seen.

thanks....i'd seen that, seems like loads of that sort of intro review, but no actual road tests....

thanks......bit short mind....:augie

ahhhh, you need a low seat version. :D

On a more serious note surely it is not a lot different from the F650GS other than the obviouse tweaks :D not a vastly different machine albeit the changes and as the reviews already mentioned

Why not have a test ride and form your own Road opinion :augie

I have a 2010 F650 GS twin which I like very much, and in this calendar year Nov to Nov have ridden just over 17,000 kilometres. I thought perhaps changing it for the new 700, so I went into my local agent today ''Adventure BMW'' in Limoges to have a good look and a try....... and my opinion and summary is ....... disappointed!

The only half decent thing they have done is put the extra disk on the front, although somehow even this has spoiled the look of the front end by making it 'heavy'.

The handlebars feel wider and seem thinner and not very nice to grip.

The new indicator control is like a bit of lego plastic, it's horrid and I can see it breaking quite easily.

The seat is still like sitting on the side of a concrete block.

The rear brake reservoir has been moved to the gap just above the rectifier, which has now been turned sideways. This has done two things, it's more difficult to get at the reservoir than before, and it takes up the space which was very cleverly used for mounting the vacuum controlled Scottoiler.

The decals and markings are very small as if BMW seem almost embarrassed by it, nothing like the F800.

As for performance- can't tell the difference.

It left me rather disappointed in the bike and BMW, they could have done better.

God forbid you consider trading in a twin cylinder F650GS that has been used for a F700GS, you will be offered pennies. As JWFr has stated, other than the additional front disc it neither has the look or feel of being better than the machine it is replacing.

Well I love mine:):):) and I also used to have a 650 twin so I have experience of both. I certainly appreciate the extra disc but I agree that to judge the difference on the road it would be necessary to ride them one after the other, however I really have to defend the front end. The 700 is much sleeker with elegant, predatory lines that give it a far more grown up look. I'm also delighted with the new instrumentation - particularly the indicator and the now stable brake fluid reservoir - and with the tank decal which is loads more prominent than on the 650. And the best, best, best thing (as I'm a little shallow) is that gorgeous matt grey, mmmmm mmmm

I also think you are a bit harsh with your review. I kept my 650 for two months ((1400 miles) but everything I have seen on the 700 appears to have improved. Excluding the cost of replacement of discs and pads twin discs have to be better, always assuming the bike will be mainly used on road. The single switch indicators should have been standard years ago. The looks are better. The brake fluid pot has finished its epileptic fit. The upgrade to comfort seat is a £100 upgrade at time of order. Would I buy a 650 over a 700? Not in a million years!

well, thanks for the replies.......i have to say i think the 700 looks much better.....but also suspected that theres not a huge difference from the 650, test ride in the near future...........

trade in my 2009 650 bargain for a 2012 700 not on my arse :aidan

And anybody that thinks a 700 looks better than that, best high tail it to specsavers :beerjug:

well, my eyes are fine, and never mentioned anyone to trade in...and yours is far from std...........folks/strokes etc........

And my lean machine is still better on the eye:thumb2 Especially in cool grey:cool: Also I have to say it's faster at the top end and I like the two discs and, of course, ABS is standard although I did opt for that on my 650 twin.
