Well mine has the computer and ABS, but only because it was the one I liked as a bike.
I only ever look at extras after I have ridden something to see if I like it to ride. Extra electronic stuff is just something else to go wrong, where boxes, panniers et cetera have a useful value; and tend not to stop working when you haven't used them for 7 or 8 months.
Of 3 GS's since 2001; 2 x R1150, 1 x F800; only two have had ABS, and then only because that's how they came.
The essentials are not computer based but are: is it good to ride, does it make you want to go for a ride when you go in your garage to do something not bike related, do you find yourself finding reasons to take the bike not the car?
If it doesn't do any of that then it doesn't matter what it is or the reasons you bought it - it's the wrong bike for you.
Plus telling some-one that they should have one with all the computer stuff, V8, when they have already said that they have bought one without it, isn't very helpful...
I say just get out there and enjoy the bike - don't listen to any of us, it's your bike, you have it the way you want it.
Have fun on the road and watch out for all the numpties
